A native, shade tolerant, upright fern. In the spring, its newly emerging stalks are edible (fiddlehead ferns). Its full size is anywhere from 24 inches tall to six feet tall, depending on conditions. It is a great addition to shade gardens, woodlands, and streambanks. Part shade to full shade. Plant 24 inches apart. Medium to wet soils. Sold as a single dormant bare root.
