The fruits of the elderberry shrub can be used to make wine, pies, jams and other goods. Flowers bloom in June and the fruit ripens in August. The fruits are attractive to birds and other wildlife. Plants can grow up to 12' tall and 12' wide. Likes moist, rich soils but will tolerate a range of soil conditions, and needs full sun to part shade. Purchase size: small bareroot seedling, about 12-24" tall. Sold as a small, dormant, single bare root seedling, about 24-36 inches tall.
